Job Description
Position Overview:
Leads new package development projects within the food & dairy space with expertise & knowledge of blow molding manufacturing processes, mold designs, and materials. Responsible for the development projects of ISBM & EBM blown packaging components including planning, execution, cost, timeline, and communication internally and externally.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ability to run multiple high-profile projects simultaneously with a high level of autonomy
- Provides technical leadership to various engineering projects and coordinate across all disciplines while giving work direction and inputs to business functional groups and provide leadership in resolving complex technical issues
- Must have excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form - As the person who is coordinating all aspects of the project communication is incredibly important.
- Must be able to manage both internal and external customers
- Must have a good understanding of SPC and quality practices - As the project leader you will receive data from the bottles throughout the project. The PDE will need to interpret the data and make decisions on the path moving forward
- Must have the ability to lead a team of individuals that will not be reporting directly to you
- Must have a expertise and understanding of EBM and/or ISBM manufacturing processes
- Must have experience with materials such as PET, PP, HDPE, LDPE and barrier materials within the plastics space
- Plastic processing experience is a plus
- Tooling build experience a plus
- Computer skills are very important... Excel, Word, , MS Project, is a must.
- Ability to work within a procedure-based organization but capable of extending outside those boundaries if required
- Willingness to make decisions and to learn from them when required
- Makes decisions and sets direction based on financial measures and strategies while seeing the big picture that is necessary to understand Amcor’s strategy, competitive position, and business environment
- Creates clear policies and professional and engineering/design principles to address differing and variable situations and teaches these to others. Ensures these become standards for department
- Understands and anticipates needs of customers; drives product opportunities
- Has influence on commercial decisions
- Develops, tracks and meets capital and expense budget for their responsibility
- Adapts to changing workplace needs and works cross functionally continually improve processes and employee engagement.
- Monitors and maintains a clear understanding of project needs, hurdles, and workload
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; packaging discipline preferred
- 8 or more years of experience working with blow molding equipment, tooling, and processing
- Deep technical knowledge in this industry, and understanding of industry trends and how they apply to customers
- Travel 20-40%
